With a view to the analysis of surface soil moisture (SSM) application and user and products requirements carried out in D1.2 and to the relationship between SAR observations and SSM retrieval accuracy addressed in the algorithm description (D2.1) and validation (D2.8), the objective of the Future S-1 User Requirements document is to formulate recommendations about mission design parameters of the next generation (NG) S-1 system that may support the take-off of operational SSM products.
