The project starts from the consideration that, due to the increasingly strict international standards, the earth moving machineries will be provided of optimized engines with new and improved devices (liquid cooled EGR valves, new catalytic converters and DPF systems) which reduce inevitably the space in the engine compartment. An heat exchanger optimization is needed to obtain smaller, lighter, but at the same time more efficient radiators than the current ones and the industry has to modify its production system to be able to answer to the market requests rapidly and with tailored products. Carrying on the work started from FDF-SP2 (Reference Project), we implemented new coating solutions to increase its grip capability on the objects where applied. Also new test solutions were realized like a further auxiliary test bed working as support to the primary prototype test rig, in order to assess nanostructured coatings functional performance on a simpler component than the prototype that should reveal the coatings added value.
