The MAl N OVERALL OBJECTIVE is lo produce higher qualily products using low cost ingredienls (from l waste) in an innovative way thus rendering the local agro1nduslry more competitive. The principal EXPECTED CHANGE is rendering local agro industry more competitive by producing animai products with bioactive feed ingredients and functional foods providing added value lo local stake- holders and preserving the environment by reducing agro-industry wastes(they will be processed and then fed to the animals). The main PROJECT ' OUTPUTS related to joint pilot actions will produce benefits for local stakeholders(producers, environment, local population) by increasing competitiveness, recycling wastes and improving the heallh of loca! population .The main benefìt of TRASNATIONAL COOPERATION will be the production of a common Mediterranean product which will help diversify the industries of each participant and contribute to l strengthen their completeness using by-products abundantly produced in both regions (wine olive oit and cheese by-products). The projects key innovation is the imptementation of a novel way of using waste to produce added value for local producers and population while creating new products with minimal costs.The expected outputs of the project proposal can be summarized as follows: ? A significant increase in the quality of ! animai products as well of the sustainability of their p~oduction system. ? A support to EU policies on agriculture, nutrition, health, environment, development and sustainable food security. ? A strengthenlng of industriai cooperation and the EU economy. with a specific focus on SMEs and small-scale food system. An increase in new market opportunities. in the short and medium term. as measured in terms of market share, turnover, emptoyment and intellectual property. A clear contribut1on to social innovation due to fair trad e/fairer trade, as well as an increase in socioeconomie and environmental sustainability
