Experiments of self propulsion have been carried out at CNR-INSEAN of a Planing Hull model equipped with an Outboard Type Propeller to know propulsive performance of the set consisting of propeller type "B", original POD and hull. The peculiarity of these tests is that the lower-case (POD) is internally instrumented with a dynamometer for measuring thrust and torque just ahead the propeller, while the total force of the POD acting on the boat is measured by a force block fitted between the propulsion unit and the stern of the model. The self propulsion tests have been performed at three angular positions of the lower-case (POD).
