Very high resolution satellite data can provide valuable insights in inflow and outflow areas of reservoirs like the case studies investigated in SPACE-O Mulargia in Sardinia and Aposelemis in Crete. The SPACE-O consortium has processed different archive datasets from the COPERNICUS Data Warehouse and other very high resolution data sets in order to analyse and demonstrate the potential usage of these very high-resolution data for water quality monitoring of drinking water reservoirs. The study shows that with appropriate physic based algorithms, water quality parameters can be successfully retrieved using the very high resolution data and can provide valuable details on small scale structures and features, but for a long-term monitoring application a detailed cost-benefit calculation is needed for each reservoir.

Abstract
Very high resolution satellite data can provide valuable insights in inflow and outflow areas of reservoirs like the case studies investigated in SPACE-O Mulargia in Sardinia and Aposelemis in Crete. The SPACE-O consortium has processed different archive datasets from the COPERNICUS Data Warehouse and other very high resolution data sets in order to analyse and demonstrate the potential usage of these very high-resolution data for water quality monitoring of drinking water reservoirs. The study shows that with appropriate physic based algorithms, water quality parameters can be successfully retrieved using the very high resolution data and can provide valuable details on small scale structures and features, but for a long-term monitoring application a detailed cost-benefit calculation is needed for each reservoir.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
