This report describes the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) activity done for the Job Order 27-MAR-2017: "Simulation on hull of a recreational boat". Numerical simulations of the flow around the INSEAN model C2596 with lowercase are performed. Three steady state conditions have been tested, namely 4 m/s, 7 m/s and 10 m/s. Simulations have been carried out with one degree of freedom, that is heaving, at the same trim angle as measured during the experiments. Results are shown in terms of total resistance, specifying the hull and lowercase contributions. Both convergence and uncertainty analysis ("Verification") and comparison with experimental data ("Validation") are reported. Pressure distributions on the surfaces of hull and lowercase are also shown. Some flow field visualizations are presented as slices of the three-dimensional flow field.
