The Fortran IV version has been performed of a set of Algol procedures of the book "Linear Algebra", suitable for computing some eigenvalues and eigenvectors of large structured matrices and of band matrices in particular. No theoretical information is given on the algorithms, for which the reader is turned to the references, but a sufficient list of practical prescriptions for the use is given. Besides a discussion is given on the criteria followed in the Fortran programming.
