In this research project, we have analyzed the combustion processes in a modified version of a Diesel engine and in diffusion flames of both liquid and gaseous fuels in order to assess whether the organic and the soot aerosols are also present in these practical combustion conditions. The analysis has been performed both experimentally and numerically giving attention to the ultrafine fraction of the combustion-formed aerosol.
