Abstract
In this paper, we investigate the relationship between classes of objects defined at the semantic/conceptual level and classes of objects implemented at the system level, e.q., in object dat abase sys tems. We propose an algorithmic approach for mapping a schema definition at the conceptual level to a corresponding schema definition at the system level, where the database objects are partitioned into system classes. This will allow a more efficient implementation of languages based on conceptual classes of objects with genera lization h ierarch ies. The approach complexity and its SUitability for application to prac tica 1 cases are aIso discussed.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
