A logical model is proposed for the form- and content- based retrieval of images. The model offers a first-order language to structurally describe images, seen as combinations of colored spots, and shows how alternative structural descriptions and reconstructions of the images'content can be accommodated in a unique image representation. Retrieval is modelled as logical inference by viewing queries as sentences of the logical languages used for the image representation. An image is retrieved if it implies the query.

Abstract
A logical model is proposed for the form- and content- based retrieval of images. The model offers a first-order language to structurally describe images, seen as combinations of colored spots, and shows how alternative structural descriptions and reconstructions of the images'content can be accommodated in a unique image representation. Retrieval is modelled as logical inference by viewing queries as sentences of the logical languages used for the image representation. An image is retrieved if it implies the query.File in questo prodotto:
