The accelerate test was chosen for obtaining a fast information (only 8 weeks with respect to 16 weeks in the standard European test) on the resistance of wood specimens treated with a different guayule resins, and 89/47/2b diluted in ethanol and applied by immersion. It means that the miniblocks, treated with a surface method and without sealing of the end grains were put in contact with a pure mycelium of two different specified fungi species and strains, a brown rot Coniophora puteana and a white rot T. versicolor. These fungal strains were certified for determining the effectiveness of wood preservatives and for testing the natural durability of wood in Europe according to CEN CT 38 (Durability of wood and wood based products) standards. Further as reference product was utilized the registered antifungal Renner product applied by immersion. All the fungal laboratory tests give information on the use of wood in contact with ground and so the results necessity of being interpreted only from persons skilled on the topic otherwise the meaning could be misunderstood.
