The research report focuses onto the magnetic materials used in a prototype electromechanical device. We have carried out a detailed search on the magnetic properties of the materials chosen for the device and also on alternative materials; data on the stability of the properties as a function of temperature have been also analyzed. The presentation of the results is organized in three different sections. The first and main section focuses on permanent magnet materials, that is, the materials providing the magnetizing force to the device. It initially presents an introduction about permanent magnets and their use in magnetic circuits; the results of the search on the magnetic properties of the materials chosen for the device are then presented in the following subsections, also considering the temperature behavior in the device working range. Advices on safe working temperature ranges and possible alternative materials designed for working at high temperatures are also given. The second and third sections focus on the magnetic properties of the soft magnetic material and paramagnetic material, their temperature stability and possible effects on the device performance.
