A Selection and Analyses of Suitable Organic Waste (OW) Streams for High Quality (HQ) Compost Production has been carried out. According to local availability and on the base of the growers' needs analysis resulted from SusMedHouse WP2, up to 16 OW streams were selected and analysed for their elementary content; attention was paid for their physical constitution in order to choose complementary by-products whose mixing can result in a suitable material for doing an optimal composting; mixture should have a right C/N ratio (20-30), moisture content (40-60%) and micro- and macro porosity resulting from the use of OW streams rich in water with structural ligno-cellulosic and hygroscopic ones, such as, straw, pruning residues, used as bulking agents. In order to save and store in the end product all micro- and macro- phyto-nutrients present in the original OW streams, the initial OW mixture should not leachate.
