Environmental education in Slovakia, and alsoin other European countries, doesn`t complywith its elementary mission and it`s moresymbolical or theoretical than practical orreal (Zborník, 2018). Teachers in secondaryschools should implement environmentaleducation into daily education of generalsubjects, though they might be missingrelevant skills, knowledge or, more often, motivation for environmental education. Therefore there is an urgent need for theappropriate training programme and teachingmaterials for teachers in practice aimed atpractical environmental education and itsimplementation into schools, to strengthentheir skills and competences and to gain theknowledge about environmental issues. The answer to this need is the ERASMUS +project "BIOPROFILES - Implementation ofpractical environmental education in schools".The project involves 6 partners active inthe area of environmental education from4 countries, Slovakia (INAK, Strom zivota,Constantine the Philosopher University),Italy (CNR-IBE), Spain (VITA XXI) and UnitedKingdom (Learning through Landscapes). It focuses on the development of innovativematerials for practical environmentaleducation for the target group of teachersand students aged 10 - 15 years, leadingthem towards increased interest in localcommunities' life.
