Abstract

The mission of open access is to remove all economic, legal and technical barriers that prevent access to scientific information and contribute to the progress and free movement of ideas. The foundations for the technological development underlying the spread of motion are laid down by the Open Archives Initiative (OAI), which was established in 1999 with the aim of promoting standards, software, and common protocols to ensure the interoperability of e-prints repositories for free dissemination of the scientific knowledge through the use of open source technological tools. ¢Open access' has been adopted as a core strategy by the European Commission in order to improve knowledge circulation and thus innovation. It is illustrated in particular by the general principle for open access to scientific publications in Horizon 2020 and the pilot for research data. CLIC - Circular models Leveraging Investments in Cultural heritage adaptive reuse Project is part of the Horizon 2020 Open Access to Publication and Research Data Pilot. One of the scopes of the CLIC project is to map and analyse existing successful business and management models, financing mechanisms and governance arrangements for adaptive reuse of groups of cultural heritage monuments, cultural landscapes, buildings or sites Scientific papers and publications will preferably follow an open publishing (Gold Open Access) policy while the long term preservation and archiving of research data and information will be made publicly available with respect of CLIC partners policy.
