Modular systems for remote sensing data Processing

The Istituto di Elaborazione dell'Informazione del C.N.R. (I.E.I.) partecipates since some years in t:wo CNR Special Projects: the "Progetto Finalizzato Informatica" and the "Progetto Pilota Mare"; three kinds of activity have been carried out by the IEI Image and Signal Processing Team: - scientific and technical support for data processing development - design of specialized devices for image acquisition - study and design of work stai:ions for image processing and representation. Major aims pursued by such activities are: - to develop the dissemination of data processing techniques in Public Administrations; - to enhance Italian industries production of image processing systems; - to realize an Italian information system for remote sensing data management and processing. In fact, we looked for finding a remedy for proliferation of processing devices which are too specialized or optimized because they have been developed according to requests made separately from several scientific or technical fields.
