The third annual meeting of the Benthos Ecology Working Group (BEWG) was attended by 22 experts, representing 11 countries and was held at the National Fisheries Research Institute in Gdynia, Poland on 8-12 May 2017. The meeting was chaired by Silvana Birchenough, UK. The agenda structure of the meeting followed the four main themes the BEWG continuously has worked on over the last years: Benthic long-term series and climate change, benthic indicators, species distribution modelling, the link between bio-diversity and ecosystem functioning and the role of benthos within MPAs.
