Resistance tests on surface have been carried out at CNR-INSEAN for a Submerged Towed Vehicle model (STV). This report presents the measurements of the towing force in calm water in the towing tank on the modified bow version of the model. The experiments have been carried out in basin n.2 of INSEAN (L x B x H = 220 x 9 x 3.6 m). The resistance measured during the resistance tests compared with the results obtained in free conditions shows a good consistency. The negative (bow down) trim assumed by the modified model is significatively reduced in comparison with the free original vessel. The results of the uncertainty evaluation of the measurement show a combined uncertainty of 1.3% and 0.3% at 0.6 and 1.25 m/s respectively.
