Temperature monitoring or other physical quantities is an important task when conducting scientific experiments or using technological devices. Remote control and data collection allows adding value to information. By collecting data with a monitoring system it is also possible to check history and trigger alerts. There are commercial devices with these features but it can be difficult to manage because they work with proprietary components and sometimes are not easy or impossible to integrate with other systems. Nowadays, we can find on the market cheap digital components that allow making measurement like temperature, pressure, humidity, etc. In many cases it is possible to use these low-cost components, combined with the potential of open-source software, to make a complete remote monitoring solution. This work is intended as a starting point for a homogeneous ecosystem of ad-hoc IoT devices for Concordia station (or other similar stations) that can be used profitably as a monitoring and control system.
