1st PERIODIC REPORT (Months 1 - 18). Achievements: - Milestone MS9 (M.3.1 Materials Characterization) achieved by CSIC. - Elaboration of deliverable D2.1 (SOCRATCES carbonation kinetics model) by CSIC, AUTH and USE. - Preliminary studies on calcination atmosphere with regards to CaO conversion have been made by CSIC. - Elaboration of deliverable D2.2 (SOCRATCES carbonator model) by CERTH and ZAR. - A detailed 1D carbonator model has been developed by CERTH. - A preliminary CFD model has been developed by CERTH. - A more detail reactor layout was designed by CERTH. - A detailed 1D carbonator model has been developed by UNIZAR - Several parametric studies on a carbonator reactor have been made by UNIZAR. - Fluidization tests at ordinary and sound assisted conditions have been made by CNR. - Heat transfer model development as a tool that will be used to support the carbonator design (WP2) as well as the reactor construction (WP6) within the next months. This is the main output within the task 2.3 "Heat integration". - Elaboration of deliverable D2.3 (Optimum heat integration carbonator-power cycle for SOCRATCES project) by USE. - Carbonator heat transfers analyses evaluating the effects on precursor particle size and process streams conditions.
