Abstract

An approach is presented which applies the concepts and the methods of the automata theory to the evaluation and comparison of microprogrammed systems. General models representing microprogrammed systems and parts of them are described and compared. Reference is made to digital systems actually realized. Equivalence relations and transformation methods are defined which enables the system designer to choose among different types of fundamental structures according to his specific objectives.
