This document describes the experimental approach and all the procedures put in place to show the compliance with the requirement for post-ditching flotation stability by means of scale model testing in irregular waves, as prescribed by "CS29 Amendment 6 - Certification Specifications and Acceptable Means of Compliance for Large Rotorcraft". The experimental campaign was performed on two scaled models of the helicopter T625 and consisted of seaworthiness tests performed at fixed point, in order to establish the performance of the rotorcraft in terms of its stability in waves. The sea conditions pre-calibration procedure, necessary for certification purposes, precedes the execution of the tests with the models. The wave climate of the northern North Sea is adopted as the default wave climate as it represents a conservative condition: the time histories of the rough seas were generated using the JONSWAP spectrum as a reference. The activity required by the client consists of 4 seakeeping series in moored model condition (i.e. seaworthiness tests) at 2 displacement conditions and 2 different geometric configurations.
