This report reports and discusses the acoustical performance of the new road pavement using crumb rubber from scrap tires and layered at temperature lower than normal ones. At present, the first six road stretches, along the SR71 road in the Municipality of Arezzo, with different blend have been investigated. The vehicle pass-by noise in proximity of the houses facing the road have been measured by a binaural recording system. The measurements have been performed before and one year after the new pavement laying. Both objective parameters, such as acoustic levels and psychoacoustic indicators, and subjective responses, such as the perception of road traffic noise, have been evaluated. The ante-operam measurements have been performed on November 2018, while the post-operam ones have been carried out on December 2019. The comparison of the results, such as in the first site, clearly shows that the new road pavements can give a contribute to the reduction of the road traffic noise, as well as provides an improvement in terms of decreasing its negative perception.
