The work herein described is the final report of the 1° year of activity in the frame of the con-tract No. W911NF1920253 between the US ARMY ACC-APC-RTP W911NF and the National Re-search Council of Italy, Institute of Science and Technology of Ceramics (CNR-ISTEC). The contract was initiated on August 2019 with Dr. Amanda Napier as contract monitor, Dr. Laura Silvestroni as Principal Investigator and Dr. Diletta Sciti as Co-Principal Investigator. Materials design, production, microstructure and mechanical characterization have been carried out at CNR-ISTEC in Faenza (Italy), preparation of polymer derived ceramics used in two buffer scales have been prepared at the Technicsche Universität Darmstadt and the mathematical mod-el has being developed at the Politecnico di Milano.
