The work herein described is the final report of the 2° year of activity in the frame of the contract No. W911NF1920253 between the US ARMY ACC-APC-RTP W911NF and the National Research Council of Italy, Institute of Science and Technology of Ceramics (CNR-ISTEC). The contract was initiated on August 2019 with Dr. Amanda Napier as contract monitor, Dr. Laura Silvestroni as Principal Investigator and Dr. Diletta Sciti as Co-Principal Investigator. Materials design, production, microstructure and mechanical characterization have been carried out at CNR-ISTEC in Faenza (Italy), thermo-elastic analyses and models on layered composites and fiber/matrix interfaces have been implemented at the Politecnico di Milano (Italy). To better ap-preciate the modelling effort and visualize fracture specific behaviors, QR codes are provided along images to be directed to the corresponding video.
