The activity proposed in this project focuses on the effect of composition, powders morphology and/or non-conventional sintering conditions on the sintering behaviour, microstructure and optical properties of transparent Yttrium Aluminium Garnet (YAG) ceramics. Doped with rare earth ions, YAG is a material used in a wide range of optical applications, viz. in solid state lasers, scintillators or light converters.
