The Special Issue "New Insights into the Marine Geology" covers a broad spectrum of topics of the subject of the marine geology, inviting to publish in this volume marine geological studies both from Mediterranean areas and extra-Mediterranean areas. In particular, I invite in this volume seismo-stratigraphic studies, collecting new researches in the field of seismic and sequence stratigraphy in coastal and marine environments. I also acknowledge tephrostratigraphic studies performed on gravity and piston cores, aimed at individuating volcanic stratigraphic markers in the marine successions. Sedimentological and stratigraphic studies on Quaternary marine deposits of delta, shelf and slope environs well fit in the propose issues. Geochemical proxies would enrich previous methods giving indications on pollutants in the coastal areas and corresponding threats. Marine geological mapping and IODP expeditions results will be suitable for this volume. Marine hazards in coastal and marine sectors will result as a further elaboration of the methods proposed in this Special Issue. Review papers including full reviews of specific topics in the field of marine geology are also suitable for the issue, including paleontological, biostratigraphic and palaeoecological studies.
