The present invention relates to a process for producing a ceramic composite material, preferably for ballistic purposes, comprising B4C, TiB2, or B4C/xTiB2, wherein 0% vol. < x ≤ 95% vol., sinterable at a temperature ≤ 2100°C, preferably < 2100 °C, by sintering without applied mechanical pressure (PLS), with or without inert gas pressure. The present invention also relates to a ceramic composite article obtainable with said process, comprising B4C, TiB2, or B4C/xTiB2 wherein 0% vol. < x ≤ 24% vol., and the use thereof preferably for applications in the ballistic field.
