This deliverable was prepared within the framework of Work Package 5 “Development of clean energy solutions for marine application” and reports the activities carried out on the sorption chiller within T5.2 “Design and Development of Optimized WH-to-cooling solutions via Adsorption Chiller”. In Deliverable 5.3 “Design/material identification for adsorption chiller for use in long distance vessels”, the preliminary activity was described, which included the screening of the working pairs, their thermodynamic and experimental characterization and the implementation of a dynamic model. The outcome of the activities reported in D5.3 was a first design of the modules that comprise the adsorption chiller. The current deliverable includes the following activities, which consist of: - Experimental testing of sorption modules for the evaluation of the effect of the operation under rolling conditions (Section 2); - First design of the adsorption chiller for the installation on-board (Section 3); - Experimental testing of the adsorption chiller for the installation on-board at Fahrenheit facilities (Section 3); - Development of a small-scale prototype and its advanced control logics, which was tested at CNR (Sections 4 and 5); - Use of the calibrated model of the adsorption chiller to define some guidelines for the integration of the adsorption chillers in waste heat-to-cold applications in the maritime sector (Section 6).
