Report on the existing gaps in the network of isotope laboratory facilities in Italy: state of the art, gap filling actions, new instrumentations and providing the isotope services

Work Package 8 (WP8) activities will use data, information, and knowledge generated by individual Research Infrastructures (RIs) to create a system of Virtual Research Environments (VREs) that will provide services in which RIs working in different and relevant environmental domains are harmonised to address scientifically and socially relevant topics, especially through the sharing of information and data produced. This systemic approach will support the Italian role in different RIs and help take the lead in addressing complex and multidisciplinary challenges. One of the main goals is also the acquisition of new field and laboratory facilities to fill the information gaps identified in the RI network. The expected outcome is the development of a prototype of operational VRE services to address environmental issues with high societal impact, which could be extended to other issues and challenges.
