The first chapter of the present document offers an overview of the experimental activity carried out in the first 6 months of the project, with a description of the apparatus and the techniques, along with a list of the different tests. The second chapter reports and discusses the results obtained within the experimental campaign on the Tobacco ignition (Deliverable A): Cast-leaf Tobacco ignition temperature for heating rates representative to those in HTPs after the pre-heating (Month 6) The third chapter discusses the results obtained within the experimental campaign on the signs that differentiate combustion and thermochemical degradation (Deliverable B). Unambiguous signs differentiating combustion from other thermochemical degradation processes based on emissions (Month 6 if TG-MS tests with marked O2 are successful (B1) otherwise at Month 9 (B2).
