The manual transcription of hearing thresholds reported in paper audiograms is a time-consuming, labor-intensive, and error-prone task that hinders the creation of standardized digital archives and the systematic analysis of audiological data. This thesis presents the development, in MATLAB, of an application for the automatic recognition of audiometric curves and the extraction of the corresponding measurements from images acquired using a scanner or a camera. The proposed procedure employs traditional image-processing and computer-vision techniques to identify the audiogram grid, correct its geometry, recognize textual labels through optical character recognition, and locate the symbols associated with hearing thresholds. In particular, circles are detected using the circular Hough transform, while crosses are identified through template-matching techniques. The detected coordinates are then converted into the corresponding frequency and sound-intensity values and exported to a standardized CSV file. The system can also generate a summary report in PDF format. All processing is performed locally, without transferring images or clinical information to external services, thereby contributing to the protection of sensitive data. The work demonstrates the feasibility of an automatic and computationally lightweight approach to audiogram digitization and provides a foundation for future improvements in robustness and for validation on larger clinical datasets.

Abstract
The work demonstrates the feasibility of an automatic and computationally lightweight approach to audiogram digitization and provides a foundation for future improvements in robustness and for validation on larger clinical datasets.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
