he experimental activity EWP1 will provide crucial information for success of the whole project, giving the opportunity to assess the validity of the numerical flow solvers and to comprehend if the 'state of the art' numerical codes are enough accurate to resolve small variations of the ship geometry. Data collected in EWP1 will be used as benchmark for the numerical solvers and a detailed investigation of the quality of the experimental data is required and an uncertainty analysis has then been applied. The Work Package EWP1 is subdivided into a number of tasks, and the present Final Report refers to the following: 1.Task EWP1.1: Ship Model A testing: Resistance 2.Task EWP1.2: Ship Model A testing: Seakeeping 3.Task EWP1.3: Ship Model B manufacturing. 4.Task EWP1.4: Ship Model B testing: Resistance 5.Task EWP1.5: Ship Model B testing: Seakeeping 6.Task EWP1.6: Ship Model C manufacturing. 7.Task EWP1.7: Ship Model C testing: Resistance 8.Task EWP1.8: Ship Model C testing: Seakeeping 9.Task EWP1.9: Ship Model D manufacturing. 10.Task EWP1.10: Ship Model D testing: Resistance 11.Task EWP1.11: Ship Model D testing: Seakeeping All resistance measurements have been performed at the INSEAN towing tank, while the seakeeping tests have been performed at the INSEAN wave tank. The original design of the selected surface ship (model A) has been supplied by the INSEAN. The successive model B, C and D (see Vol.1 Technical Proposal, Tab.2) has been manufactured by INSEAN following the design delivered by FINCANTIERI.

Abstract

he experimental activity EWP1 will provide crucial information for success of the whole project, giving the opportunity to assess the validity of the numerical flow solvers and to comprehend if the 'state of the art' numerical codes are enough accurate to resolve small variations of the ship geometry.
