The scientific results and the methodological planning of the Structural-Geological Map of the Emilia-Romagna Apennines (1:250.000) have been presented during the Third Seminary on the Geological Cartography (Bologna, February 2002). The Structural-Geological Map represents the result of a positive collaboration between the scientific community (CNR and Universities) and the Emilia-Romagna Region, developed with the aim of synthesizing the analytical data collected during twenty years of laboratory and field work. The entire product includes a separate sheet with 10 geological cross-sections (scale 1:100.000), and a volume containing the explanatory notes and the stratigraphical tables; these latter constitute an original contribution for integrating the stratigraphical data to the legend of the Map which follows a structural formulation. The methodological problem of the correct mapping of folding deformation at upper structural levels has been solved by tracing the axial surfaces.
