Born from the meeting during the 2002-2003 period of some Italian researchers of regional science, this book gathers the experiences, thoughts, criticisms and methodological advances. In recent years, regional sciences, and in particular the study of the dynamics of local development and the phenomena of convergence and / or regional differences, have contributed to a better understanding of the great transformations that involve at least three decades the world economic system, their effects on land and society, but also were an important framework of analysis for other disciplines such as development economics, economics of innovation and the knowledge economy.
