New information technology as multimedia and networking technology, opens new perspective on the teaching/learning process, in particular on continuous training in small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs). With this in mind, we are developing a project partially funded by the European Community under the Adapt initiative. The project aims at designing and testing new approaches and fools for the effective continuous training of personnel in SMEs. Within this framework, we are creating a virtual classroom based on telecommunication technology and oriented to the implementation of continuous learning systems. The system, which allows the management, delivery and consultation of courses, is implemented in HTML/Java. in this paper, we will outline the structure of the system, relating it to the proposed aims and showing how the technical choices correspond to user needs.
