The aim of this presentation is to give an overview of the Human Language Technology in Italian industry. Current natural language processing activities in universities and public research centers are also outlined in order to highlight that the organizations working in this field have a sound background and the research community offers an excellent skill base and provides expert advice on present and potential markets to suppliers and users. The state of the national and European research funding initiatives and some market transfer conditions are also outlined in order to demonstrate the role of the public initiative in removing the financial burden associated with building up basic material to encourage and to support players to develop new products in this area.
