Abstract
There are many direct methods to perform the shear wave velocity measurements in the soil: Down Hole, Cross Hole, SASW, MAWS, etc. Among this method, recently the use of Seismic Dilatometer Marchetti Tests (SDMT), to measure the shear wave velocity profile, was developed and used in Italy. These tests shows good repeatability of the measurements and the possibility to know, at the same time, the mechanical soil characteristics in the static field. In this paper some Italian sites, prone to high seismic risk, were studied to know the dynamic soil profile, among them STM M6 and San Giuseppe la Rena sites in Catania and San Giuliano di Puglia (PZ). For site characterisation of soil deep site investiga-tions have been also undertaken. Borings, SPT and dynamic in situ tests have been performed. Down-hole (D-H), Seismic Dila-tometer Marchetti Tests (SDMT) and Noise Analysis Surface Waves (NASW) have been carried out, with the aim to evaluate the soil profile of shear waves velocity (Vs). The available data enabled one to compare the shear waves velocity, obtained by empirical correlations, such as that given by EC8 with the results of Down Hole tests and Seismic Dilatometer Marchetti Tests. A comparison between the shear wave veloc-ity measured by in situ test and that deducted by laboratory tests at small strain, have been also performed. The authors suggest to perform in situ test to evaluate shear wave velocity profile, particular for layered soil, rather than using empirical correlation and VS,30.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
