Themes related to renewable energy sources are becoming more and more interesting not only for experts, but also for people with less technical competences. They are characterized by a continuous technological, normative and, by consequence, linguistic evolution. Such a contest and the increasing amount of information determine the strong necessity of a terminological intervention, both in specialized communication and in the popular one, by realizing supporting tools oriented to addressing and sharing the use of terms. The activity described in this article, started in collaboration with the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart of Milan, Department of Linguistic Sciences and Foreign Literatures, concerns the definition of a popular glossary in the domain of the photovoltaic technology, with the perspective of constructing a specialized glossary for the same domain and of including other solar based technologies like solar thermal and solar cooling.

Abstract
Themes related to renewable energy sources are becoming more and more interesting not only for experts, but also for people with less technical competences. They are characterized by a continuous technological, normative and, by consequence, linguistic evolution. Such a contest and the increasing amount of information determine the strong necessity of a terminological intervention, both in specialized communication and in the popular one, by realizing supporting tools oriented to addressing and sharing the use of terms. The activity described in this article, started in collaboration with the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart of Milan, Department of Linguistic Sciences and Foreign Literatures, concerns the definition of a popular glossary in the domain of the photovoltaic technology, with the perspective of constructing a specialized glossary for the same domain and of including other solar based technologies like solar thermal and solar cooling.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
