The paper shows a modern approach, based on Recurrence Quantification Analysis (RQA) to analyse the time series of Passive Acoustic Emissions (AE) due to crustal movements, in order to highlight possible precursors of earthquakes. After a short description of AE, the preliminary results of RQA analysis applied to AE time series before the earthquake of L"Aquila (Italy, on April 6th, 2009) are shown. The AE records have been collected in three sites located in Valsinni (Potenza, Italy), Orchi (Perugia, Italy) and Cephalonia Island (Greece) with 30 sec. of sampling rate. The results show that the RQA applied to analyse AE records is a valid method to highlight an incoming earthquake.

Abstract
The results show that the RQA applied to analyse AE records is a valid method to highlight an incoming earthquake.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
