Abstract

We present a derivation of the collision induced polarizability component associated to the covalent contribution to bonding in pairs of mercury diatoms. The results of this paper have been shown to reproduce existing measurements of Collision Induced Light Scattering spectra in mercury vapours [1]. The same results can be used for all group 12 dimers (Zn, Cd, Hg).
