Evolution of Agro-food Current Research Information Systems in Italy

An account is given on the development of structured information services related to ongoing research activities as well as dissemination of information on the research results in Italy. The paper presents the results of a survey recently carried out within the Italian Current Research Information systems, with particular reference to agro-food and environmental research. Moreover the paper describes new typologies of research information systems. Based on this analysis, the problems of data quality and completeness in distributed systems are addressed and adequate solution is suggested
