The MultiDisciplinary Optimization (MDO) of a frigate ship is performed through the use of high fidelity solvers. The computational effort is greatly reduced integrating the expensive models with low order mathematical approximations, whose degree of accuracy is increased during the optimization cycle, while the search in the design space is step-by-step focused on the most promising design.
