Multi-Disciplinary Optimisation (MDO) of a Fishing Vessel in Variable Loading Conditions

2001

Abstract

In the present work the results of an automatic optimization study for a fishing vessel are exposed. Seakeeping characteristics together with resistance estimation are obtained by means of CFD tools and considered as the objective functions of the optimization study. Two different COG positions, in order to evaluate the loading condition effect, are considered, and different geometries are obtained. Finally, a trade-off analysis is carried out in order to define the best compromise solution.
