The behaviour of supported copper catalysts has been investigated in the hydrogenation of cyclododecatriene to cyclododecane. The activity of these catalysts, which is influenced by the nature of oxide support and Cu(0) surface dispersion, is lower than that obtainable with conventional heterogeneous noble metal systems, whereas the selectivity is higher. In particular, Cu/Al2O3, prepared by chemisorption of Cu(NH3)4 ++ on alumina and preactivated in H2 atmosphere, allows high yield of cyclododecene (94%).

Abstract
The behaviour of supported copper catalysts has been investigated in the hydrogenation of cyclododecatriene to cyclododecane. The activity of these catalysts, which is influenced by the nature of oxide support and Cu(0) surface dispersion, is lower than that obtainable with conventional heterogeneous noble metal systems, whereas the selectivity is higher. In particular, Cu/Al2O3, prepared by chemisorption of Cu(NH3)4 ++ on alumina and preactivated in H2 atmosphere, allows high yield of cyclododecene (94%).File in questo prodotto:
