An apparatus to study the fragmentation of molecular dications following inner shell ionization by electron impact has been built at CNR-IMAI. The fragmentation of the dications is studied via Auger electron-ion-ion coincidence experiments. This coincidence technique has been used to identify N 1s -1v -1->v -3 transitions in the N 2 Auger spectrum and to study the fragmentation of CH 4 2+ after C 1s ionization. © 2002 Published by Elsevier Science B.V.

Abstract
