[In(NEt2)3]2 has been synthesized by reaction of anhydrous InCl3 with LiNEt2 in diethyl ether solution. Reaction of the new product with a moderately acidic agent such as CpH leads to the cleavage of the In-NEt2 bonds with formation of Cp2InNEt2, whereas reactions at high temperature (400°C) with Ph2PH or PhPH2 give a mixture of products whose analysis by XPS indicates the presence of InP and carbon. The new indiumamides have been spectroscopically characterized by ir and 1H and 13C nmr.
