Abstract

Buffer strips proved to effectively reduce herbicide runoff from cultivated fields mainly due to the ability of vegetation to delay surface runoff, promote infiltration and adsorb herbicides. A rainfall model for the detection of the return period of rainfall/runoff events is recently available for north-east Italy. The present work compares experimental results obtained in 2010 with the outcome of that model and show the good agreement between expected and observed results.
