This document is an elaboration of the working papers presented at the Scientific, Technical and Economics Committee for fisheries (STECF), Sub-Group on Mediterranean (SGMED), meeting held in Brussels on 4-6 September 2002. The aim of this meeting is provide informations on characteristics of the fisheries fleets and relevant aspects of most important shared stock in the Mediterranean. Amongst these, five demersal species having major importance in the demersal fisheries in the Strait of Sicily were selected: Red mullet, Hake, Deep water pink shrimp, Norway lobster, Deep water red shrimp.
