An inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometer was used for the determination of boron in coal ash samples. The procedure includes high-temperature ashing, followed by hydrofluoric acid plus aqua regia leaching in a microwave oven. The applicability of this method has been verified by precision and accuracy tests.
